All is fair at the Fair..

Today was our adventure to the 2011 California State Fair, and an adventure it was! From seeing the baby animals and live stock to the farm, exhibits, and the bug showcase.. We even rode them monorail! However the most exciting part about the fair was simply the food. I literally ate my way through the fair (with the help of friends of course).
It started at the request for deep fried Kool-Aid from the pregnant one of us. The best way to describe it would be a fruit punch flavored donut, bright pink in color and covered in powdered sugar. It was rather interesting.
From there we moved on to the promenade - where there was food cart after food cart! I ventured for the fried veggies which consisted of fried mushrooms, eggplant, zucchini, and artichokes. I was slightly disappointed to not find deep fried avocado this year, a favorite from years past. Our complete table consisted of fried cheese curds, more veggies, a giant corn dog, and a sandwich called the fat Darrel.
Needing to walk after our fried deliciousness we ventured to the exhibits. Along the way I snagged a cup of Dippin Dots which were refreshing as the heat was slowly rising.
I'm not too sure where we went next but I know we made our way back to the promenade to finish with desert. After deep fried Oreos, deep fried peanut butter cups, and a deep fried snickers (my favorite by far out of the deep fried sweets) I thought we were done, but how can one deny the opportunity of a maple bacon sundae per Shan's request. Unfortunately it was very disappointing. I believe a disgusted *shudder* would be the best way to describe it. There may have been another cup of Dippin Dots to erase the memory of the not so tasty sundae...
At the end of the day sunburnt, tired, puffy from sodium and a raging headache I'm not sure all is fair at the fair... But I will definitely be back next weekend for my much awaited funnel cake.

Time time to simplify...

I periodically go through spells where I want to simplify everything! I want to make things easier, purge unnecessary items, throw away my cell phone and simply just be.. unfortunately its not that easy to do. However, one thing that has been driving me crazy is my hair, which is very easy to simplify!
I've been growing my hair out for the past four years, four years of washing, drying, straightening or curling every other day, cut and color appointments every ten weeks and for the past few months, Brazilian Blowouts every three months [which was heaven for my curly, frizzy hair].
Basically four years of high maintenance hair, and I was SO over it! In the past five weeks i have cut at least eight inches off of my locks, and I couldn't be happier.
Amongst the hair madness I did discover amazing shampoo, literally amazing, and best of all it is so simple! There are no crazy dyes or chemicals in it, it is completely sodium and sulfate free, and it is vegan and gluten free too!
The product is called Dermorganics!

The shampoo and conditioning masque are infused with Argan oil to help lock in moisture and lessen dry time. Its basically helping to seal any damaged hair strands or split ends, plus it makes your hair super soft! I honestly have never had a shampoo make my hair feel so clean with out any build up nor a conditioner that my hair just soaks up so quickly. The downside is that the shampoo is very thin and half of it ended up at the bottom of the shower but it is still worth it regardless!
I have yet to find it at Ulta, Total Beauty, or any other commercial beauty product supply store. But it is found at amazon.com or have your hair stylist pick some up at their supply store!

Oh so thats how its done!

I am completely obsessed with so many different products right now! However, currently my most favorite is Sally Hansen Salon Effects Nail Strips!

I seriously cannot get enough of them. At first I was skeptical as I have tried other versions of these nail "stickers" and they either don't stick or peel off incredibly fast. But these nail strips are completely worth the $8.50 for 16 strips! They have so many bright colors and fun prints that are great for going out or for a long weekend in which you don't want to worry about having perfectly manicured fingers.
The packaging/ads claim they last at least 10 days, I find that I generally get about 7-10 days out of them. Inside each little box are two packs of the strips, the trick is to only open one pack at a time and to use one strip for two nails. [The strips are definitely long enough to accommodate this.] That way you get two full nail sets for the price of one!
It is literally as simple as peel, stick, and file and then you are done! There is ZERO drying time so no chance of smudging at all. My only complaint is that they do not have dark colors yet, I'm holding out in hopes they release new colors for fall/winter 2011.

Today I put on the "It Girl" color and it is an amazing shade of bright pink! I recommend the leopard print, the gold glitter, and to definitely give them a shot for yourself! <3
