Stay Golden Babycakes

Okay so I'm in love with our dog, Baby, obvi. And when I saw this amazing idea on the same site that I got the Gold Chevron Paintings from I knew we needed it in our house! Since we rent I didn't want to paint it on and that is where my handy dandy Silhiuette Cameo came in to the picture!
So a little bit of editing, some gold vinyl, and viola:

Isn't is great!?

I also did one for our border collie for Z to put on the wall at work! Ill post pictures once its up! :)

Help!! I'm Obsessed!!

Okay so I have this problem where I find something I like and then I OBSESS on it it.. Actually obsess is even and understatement. AND in this case I find something and am undecided on it.. THEN when I can no longer find it I really really really want it.
Object:
Gold Metal Serving Tray with Glass from Target.

So I looked at it a few times and even when it went 50% off it was in my cart then in an effort to not buy something just because it is on sale it went back on the shelf. Well NOW I want it because I think it would look great on our coffee table and match the Gold Chevron paintings.. RIGHT!??

But I have looking in seriously every target in our area, on ebay, etsy, and craigslist and NO luck!! Plus it is no longer available online at target.com.

Any suggestions??

Gahhhhhhh

Memory Quilt

Over the past couple of years I have been making T-Shirt Memory quilts for friends and through on line orders [see my Etsy store :)] But I wanted take a different approach to it last month. I wanted to find a way to use my late grandfather's dress shirts to make a quilt for my grandmother for Christmas.
This is what I came up with:

I started with about five of his shirts and cut off the arms so that I had the large back piece and the front panels. I took them to Joann's to find coordinating fabric.
The solid color fabric are my grandfathers dress shirts and the two printed fabrics are quilting fabric from the store.

I figured out how large I wanted to make the quilt and decided with would be easiest to work with 12x12 squares. I cut the fabric into 2", 3", and 4" widths.

Then I sewed them together into the 12" squares then into rows.

And sewed all of the rows together:

Once the quilt was completely pieced together I laid it on that backing with the batting in the middle and pinned it all together:

I decided to do the actual quilting myself and thought it would be simplest to use just straight lines.
I measured diagonally down the middle to create a starting point and guide line:

Using a quilting bar I just slowly made different sized widths at random. I worked from the middle out to help keep everything symmetrical and in place.

It will take some practice to make it perfect but I was very happy with the final result:

Finally I trimmed all of the excess fabric and batting off around the edges and bound the quilt  by hand.

Here is Mimi with it on Christmas Day:

Isn't she cute?? :)

Season 2 of Girls!

Hiiiiii. SO do any of you watch Girls on HBO?? Well I do and I absolutely love the show. I watched it last summer when the first season premiered and thought it was good, but when I watched the season again [its only 10 episodes] to get all caught up for season two - I fell in love with it.

It is about four girls in their twenties who are trying to find who they really are and what they want in life [while trying to survive the obstacles of living NYC].  It has a quirky sense of humor and some odd ball characters but its well written and completely relatable. Plus what's really cool is that the main character, Lena Dunham [who plays Hannah], also writes and directs the shows.

Season Two of Girls starts this Sunday.. Wooohoooo!!
Will you be watching it too??

Happy New Year!

Happy New Year!!

I hope that everyone had a safe and happy New Year's Eve! Yesterday I went to San Francisco with Z and we had an amazing day. The weather was a bit chilly but the sky was clear as could be. We celebrated with first day in the new year with in true SF fashion with clam chowder, salt water taffy, shrimp sandwiches, and a bit of shopping.

This is the view from where we parked - it was a few blocks up from Haight Street. Perfect right!?

Last year I made two resolutions - to eat semi better and to blog more - both of which I kept. I have over 100 more amazing followers than last year and I am down eight pounds. I would definitely call it a success!
This year my goals are simple - I want to do yoga more! A few years ago I practiced Hot Bikram Yoga on the regular but things got busy and the studio I went to closed down and therefore it has been way too long since I last went. I already bought a new yoga mat on clearance at target and we all know my yoga pants are waiting to actually be used for yoga..  I cancelled my 24 Hour Workout membership and am putting the funds towards something I will actually use and hopefully benefit from. Wish me luck :)

What are your resolutions or goals for this new year?
